Why I Hate Religion

This video made its way around the internet a few years ago. I remember seeing it on someones Facebook page and sharing it back them. It has found its way to me so I thought I would share it yet again. It's only a four minute video but it says a lot.

I know so many close friends and family who have been hurt by religion. So many people turned off to JESUS because they see what damage RELIGION can do. Religion has started wars, turned people against each other, spewed hate and condemned. But there is a big difference between the religion that man made and the message of Jesus.

Jesus came to seek and save and his message was one of love, forgiveness and acceptance. He filled his "church" with the broken -ME- not the perfect or self righteous. One of my favorite of many verses that shows how much Jesus loves is Matthew 18:12.

"What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off."

The Lord will continue to go after the one that has wandered off leaving all the rest...and when he finds him and turns to him he will rejoice more for that one than the 99 other righteous. Jesus was a savior who sought out sinners, not persecuted them....but sought them out, loved them and brought them to him.

This video explains in short the difference between following Jesus and following religion...something often confused.  Have a watch...Jesus may not be who you thought he was and it will be worth your while to investigate it for yourself.

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” ? C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
