“Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak,” (2 Corinthians 4:13, English Standard Version)
Many people say they have faith, but their lives are not ringing loud with faith’s expression. Whether you realize it or not the spirit of faith has a voice just like the Holy Spirit has a voice and he wants to speak into your life right now. Your faith was never meant to be a silent partner in your life in God but it was meant to be the loudest objective voice when the devil tries to visit and life’s adverse circumstances come knocking on your door. When the symptoms of sickness appear faith shouts out “Get away from them because by Jesus’s stripes they are healed!” The important thing to remember is that without the word of God in your heart your faith will never have a voice with which to be effectively expressive.
Let’s look at the scripture being quoted in 2 Corinthians 4:13 which is actually Psalm 116:9-10, “I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. I believed, even when I spoke, "I am greatly afflicted." The Psalmist is communicating a very resilient faith when even at a time of great affliction he doesn’t give up on life but speaks against the affliction and refuses to agree with the devil. It’s easy to give up and to agree with defeat, but how many of us can hold on to faith and open our mouths to speak faith filled words? He confessed “I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.”(verse 9) Stop trying to die and go to the sweet by and by and learn to live and overcome your troubles in the here and now.
The victory that overcomes the world is your faith not death. Death has been swallowed up in victory. We were not saved so God could make a bunch of unfilled promises and take us up to heaven. I believe he will be rather unhappy if we see him without seeing the manifestation of every promise decreed for our lives after all he’s the one would declared through the prophet Isaiah, “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11, Amplified Bible) Decide today that you will allow your faith to speak and usher you into the manifested promises of God’s word.
God gave a challenge to the Israelites because they were continually being faithless in spite of all that he had done for and in spite of the ways that he demonstrated his unparalleled sovereignty through miracles, signs and wonders. This is the challenge put forth to them, “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."
(Deuteronomy 30:19-20) The writer of Hebrews informs us that not all of the Israelites made the right choice to live by faith in God because he writes, “For indeed we have had the glad tidings [Gospel of God] proclaimed to us just as truly as they [the Israelites of old did when the good news of deliverance from bondage came to them]; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith (with the leaning of the entire personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) by those who heard it; neither were they united in faith with the ones [Joshua and Caleb] who heard (did believe).
So I ask you what will you choose?
