Wake Up Call

Have you ever felt like you were so buried in your work that there was no way to ever enjoy your family, your friends, or your own interests and hobbies? Is every day is the same: you wake up and rush to get your cup of coffee and out the door to sit in traffic before you get to the office and face the barrage of email and tasks being asked of you? You skip lunch because you have too much to do, you are starving so the next thing you know you’re grabbing a diet coke and a bag of chips because you just need to eat something and you have to do it quick because you don’t want to be at the office after 6PM if you can help it.

You have some sort of urgent task come across your desk at 3PM and you realize you have to postpone everything else because this is the new top priority and that means you are lucky to get out of the office by 7PM. And tomorrow – well – now you will be even MORE behind.

You didn’t take anything out of the freezer to make for dinner – you will just stop at the drive through JUST THIS ONE LAST TIME – not that you would actually be able to make something by the time you get home and still help the kids with their homework, get the house cleaned up a bit before you collapse in front of the TV only to fall asleep on the couch.

Have you been making excuses to your friends about how busy you are at work? Have you been missing your kids’ events? You are definitely not getting out to spend any one on one time with your spouse.

You are in a job that you haven’t seen a raise from in two years, but you are working more hours. You never have time to yourself and you barely took any vacation time during the past year.

Does this remotely ring true to you? I am here to tell you that I understand. I’ve been there. As your life coach I’m going to be a little bossy and tell you to S-T-O-P!!!

My dear friend, you need this wake up call. HELLO!!!! Are you listening? Not to me…but to that oh so very quiet voice inside that is desperately trying to reach you and tell you that you cannot continue like this without having severe consequences on your health, your relationships, your entire future.

There are some things that need to change and SOON! The first thing I hope you realize is that nothing will get better unless you take stock and consciously make changes in your schedule, in how you work, in what you make a priority in your life.

Realizing that you must make changes is a huge step. You don’t have to work your life away. The most important people and things in your life are missing you. I care about you and want you to have the life you deserve. You are meant for so much more. Are you ready to live the life of greatness waiting for you?

You have to think more of yourself. If you are giving your precious life blood away to things that ultimately don’t bring you closer in your relationships and bring you joy, then it is time to take stock. You have choices. Right now you are programmed to believe that this is your only path – you have to pay your bills right? There is a way to redo your schedule to work smarter, not harder – to VALUE YOURSELF enough to not give your time away for free.

Take a walk today (if weather doesn’t permit then take 15 minutes alone somewhere quiet) and decide for yourself if you need to rethink the direction your life is going. If this article rang true in any respect to you, then this could be your wake up call. Let’s get to work and figure out how we can change a few things to make big rewards in your relationships and quality of life. I’m here to tell you – YOU are WORTH more. You deserve to have the life you dream of.
