“Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.”Proverbs 23:23 NIV
Understanding is a gift from God because it allows us to choose what we listen to and accept as the solid truth. Becoming aware of this is the first step in understanding who God is. Living a life that is willing to be set apart isn’t easy to do, but it is what we MUST do. It is what helps us to see clearly in His truths.
Have you ever known someone that didn’t know who they were as a person or what they’d be doing with their future? It the not knowing part that keeps us from having a true sense of what our God can do. Relying on Him; is the beginning of a life with Him. I can’t imagine who would not want God in their life and why they wouldn’t care to know Him. Yet, there are many that don’t and lack the understanding of who He is and what He can do.
I’m amazed every time when good things happen in my life and they are clearly something that He has done. It just confirms to me what I already know and gives me a clear understanding of why I believe what I believe. Do you understand what it means to have a life with Christ? Is He Lord of your life? These are questions we must ask ourselves because if we don’t we may never have the opportunity to know Him.
When we become aware of this, it is in this moment that we have gained the understanding of what having a relationship with Christ really means. It is then, that we don’t want to lose site of the knowledge we have gained. That is what this verse is saying to us that if we don’t want to lose the understanding of who God is, and what is really about.
Understanding this is the milestone that sets us apart from the rest of the world. It is the beginning of building a relationship and growing in your walk with Christ.
“Father, give me understanding to know who You are. Help me see You clearly living in my life. Keep me from the things that keep me from You. I love you, Father. Amen.”
