I've been avoiding social networking for a while now. I was adamant that I wasn't going to use it just to update everyone on my personal whereabouts. Afterall, who cares if I'm at the mall, cooking dinner or going on a shopping spree; I'm no Angelina Jolie. That's probably why I couldn't see the personal application of social networking; other than to catch up with long lost friends. By the way, it has been amazing how many high school friends, college friends and friends from previous locations I've reconnected with. But I've been fairly silent in terms of updating my wall or answering the question, "What's on your mind?"
However in the back of my mind, I put a push pin with a little note that said, "figure out how to use social media for business and ministry." This seemed like a daunting task because there's so much to understand. But today I bit the bullet. I added a page "PurposeQuest" to my main Facebook page and I joined Twitter. Now the trick is to figure out how to use them effectively.
One thing you won't see from me on either of these sites is irrelevant, mundane stuff like, "okay I'm turning in for the night." I think there is so much more value in supporting and helping people discover and live their purpose and I look forward to discovering and sharing vital information with my followers (as they come; when they come). So go ahead and check me out on Facebook and Twitter and encourge me to keep posting and tweeting.
