Isaiah 40:31- But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Inevitably, all of us experience disappointing, heart-breaking or depressing times in our lifetime. Mostly, these are unsuspected events that happen even if we didn’t expect or plan it and it does take a toll on our emotions and it can even affect our lifestyle and faith.
Whether you experience losing a loved one, got laid off from work, had too much financial woos or not passing a particular test even if you have prepared well for it, these events in our life can be very distressing that sometimes, we feel as if we are abandoned or unfavored by God.
But if we look on the other way, such heavy burdens in our lives are actually just God’s way of getting closer to us. It is His way to make us realize of how blessed we are even under such unfortunate circumstances. It is also His way of training us to become the better and stronger person that He wants us to be. Remember that God knows your potential, so He would never put trials in your path if you cannot overcome them. As written in Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
But as humans, we easily fall short on emotions. We still tend to think that we cannot do it, that we cannot possibly overcome this, that life is unfair because others have so much while there’s almost nothing left for us. These emotions are natural because we as humans are imperfect and our understanding is always limited. But one thing we should do especially in our darkest hour is to TRUST God’s plan for us. His plans may be different from ours (which is devastating once we realize it) but later on, when we get through the trials and burdens, we know why He planned it for us. Our only duty then is to trust Him and strive for the best. As written in Proverbs 3:5-6- Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Deuteronomy 31:6- Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. God only wants us to be strong in spite of the turbulent phases of our lives because even if we feel abandoned, the truth is that He never left and would actually never leave our side.
So whenever negative things happen, just remember to hold on tight to the Lord, do what you think is right, and say “this too shall pass”.
