So many times people speak of finding your purpose. Preachers, Evangelist, Prophets have built "churches" on this principal alone. What exactly does it mean to find your purpose?
Does it mean you have to be rich and famous to have discovered your purpose? I hope not. There are a lot of people with money who squander that away if that is the definition alone. I think money is important but it doesn't signify that you have reached your purpose. Being a successful 'lady of the evening" can make you rich, but I would hope it wasn't her purpose.
Everyday, I find that I am asking God to help me find my purpose..as we all do. I must admit, I often find myself thinking of status, career or occupation as a sign that I would have succeeded. In reflecting on God's word, I find that isn't our "purpose" in life. We were placed here to help others, to encourage others and to be a friend to the friendless and a shoulder for those to cry on in their times of need. Everything the bible teaches on deals with helping others and by doing that, we are serving God.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 sums up what is expected of every Christian (Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man.).
When we have succeeded in doing for others and living for God, we have completed our purpose. The other things should probably be titled..Finding Your Niche in Life.
So for now on, my prayer will be that I continue to serve God's purpose in my life and that he helps me find a niche along the way.
