More than Conquerors

We each have a fight to win. Fights against our flesh, our emotions and sometimes our relationships. It is not easy to face the enemy alone.

Towards the end of Joel chapter 2, God promised deliverance for those who called upon His name (Joel 2:32). Chapter 3 is a reassurance of that promise and God’s action plan of deliverance.

Judah’s enemies have scattered them among the nations and divided their land (v 2), given a boy as payment for a harlot and sold a girl for wine (v 3), carried the silver and gold to their temples (v 5) and sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks so that they would be removed far from their land (v 6). But God promised to retaliate for every misery they caused to His people.

Proclaim this among the nations: “Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let the men of war draw near, Let them come up… For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations… For their wickedness is great.” Joel 3:9-13

How comforting it is to know that God is for us and will fight the battle for us! “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance is of the Lord.” Proverbs 21: 31. But remember, we need to call on His name first.

If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8: 31, 32

God will fight for His people and “the Lord will be a shelter for His people. (v 16)”

…in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37” All this will happen “So you shall know that I am the Lord your God.” (v 17)

Joel is an interesting study and taught me many valuable lessons! I discovered a God of second chances and His infinite love towards me! It helped me realize how weak I am and how His love overshadows me. I have wrapped up the study here: 3 Lessons from Joel I hope you will read along and be benefited.
