Many people have missed their God-given opportunities in the past because they were not able to recognise them. The truth of the matter is that opportunities don't just come with a tag, "Iam Mister Opportunity" written on them. That's why a lot of people have allowed them to walk away.
Maybe you've missed an opportunity as a result of your inability to recognise it; I want to let you know that there is still hope for you.
You will not miss the subsequent opportunities that would come your way after going through this article.. The light of God's word has come to you."The entrance of God's word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple" (Psalm 119:130)- Scripture paraphrase.
Let's get the ball rolling!
How to Recognise Opportunities:
Problems or challenges are opportunities in disguise. Sometimes when problems or challenges come your way, they come as an opportunity to stir up the gifts, talents and abilities in you and not neccessarily to harm you.
The challenge the children of Isreal had when Goliath of Gath threatened them was an opportunity for David that was at the back side of desert unrecognise to be introduced (1Samuel17:23-54).
It depends on how you react to it. Saul and his Soldiers were scared of Goliath but David saw that challenge as an opportunity. In the book of Acts 3:1-10, Peter and John were so sensitive to discover that the blind man that was sitting at the beautiful gate begging for alms- his situation was an opportunity for them to display or demonstrate the power of God.
Major and minor inventions were made possible because there was a need that needed to be met or problem that needed to be fixed. If there were no challenges or problems, there wouldn't have been any discoveries.
In other words, problem is indirectly a sign that shows there is a need. For instance, let's analyse how the use of chair came about. Imagine how a visitor would pay his/her friend a visit before the invention of a chair. And the visitor would be standing without a chair to sit on. That of course was a challenge to the fellow that was visited which led to a need that further led to an opportunity for someone to invent a chair.
Problem or challenge shows that there is a need which leads to opportunity. Where there are problems, opportunities are created.
So, if you want to make impact in your society and the world at large, don't run away or distance yourself from any challenge, mostly when it affects you directly. Instead, see it as an opportunity and react to it by carefully evaluating and working to fix the problem as the case may be.. You might even end up being a light to other people that have found themselve in the similar challenge by showing them the way out.
Myles Munroe once said, "When you find a problem, you become wealthy when you solve that problem". Note: When you meet people's need, you've added value to their life. As a result, there will be exchange of value. And what will they use to exchange for that value? It is money. Why? Because you've been able to give them value and exchange it with another value which is money. Money is used for value exchange.
